• The 20^th of February 1978 is the company funding day under the name of Mining Equipment Enterprise – I.U.M. Tg-Jiu, company founded to produce mining equipment for the open cast coal exploration facilities and spare parts needed for this equipment. The location was carefully chosen right in the center of the Oltenia’s Mining Area. The production capabilities were designed to produce mining equipment and spare parts in a volume of over 16000 tons / year. Then, the company changed its name into the “Intreprinderea de Productie si Antrepriza de Montaj si Reparatii Capitale Utilaj Minier” (I.P.A.M.R.C.U.M.).
• Beginning on 1991 the company transforms into a corporation under the name that will impose on the market of spare parts for mining equipments production, GRIMEX. Starting from this moment there was initiated the production of complex mining equipments or their subassemblies and, also, has begun the fabrication of some other new equipments after designs created in the country or after foreign licences. During the years there were delivered around 141000 tons of equipments towards the lignite quarries.
• After 1995 there were repaired majorly and modernised a number of 12 excavators model ERC 1400.
• 2001 represents the year when GRIMEX started spare parts manufacturing for thermoelectric plants, sector which will have been improved ever since..
• With the transformations within the Romanian economy by passing to the market economy, in 2006 the shareholders’ structure changes, the company turning into a limited company.
• Starting from 2008 GRIMEX becomes the main provider of reparations for mill rotors for the Romanian thermo-energetics.
• Actually GRIMEX Tg-Jiu is the main provider of mining equipment mechanical reparations of Romania.
• Recently the range of products and services offered to the clients diversified, as follows:
  • Metallic handwork and welded structures of a maximal weight of 100 tons on subassembly;
  • Machining on CNC systems (turning, millings, borings);
  • Technical oxygen bottling, verifications and oxygen tube reparations;
  • Reparation, inspection and maintenance of elevation installation with a maximal carrying weight of 100 tons.
• 2012 is the year when there was performed for the first time the fabrication of a rotor for an excavator model 1400, with an impressive diameter of about 12000 mm.
