The sandblasting is an effective  procedure of cleaning the metallic surfaces and is performed within sanding rooms with a particle jet that is applied to the surfaces for clearing all the defaults come from operations or from the corrosive action of the atmospheric factors.

            By sanding the following operations may be performed:

  • clearing of a great range of impurities or unwanted defaults of the surface like: sand, dross, clay, old paint;
  • obtaining a harsh surface (with asperities) that insures a good adherence of the material of paint and metallization;
  • clearing the surfaces operated by polishing the small effects and the highs resulted following a full series of operations;
  • obtaining clear surfaces as final operation after a full operation.

            Compared to sanding with sand, the method of sanding with steel shots and grids (used in our institution) is more effective and presents the following advantages:

  • on metallic surface dust is not present;
  • does not present danger of getting a disease like silicosis, disease particular to sanding with sand;
  • with the same quantity of abrasive material, until its termination, the surface sanded with steel shots is of about 20 times bigger than the one sanded with sand.

            Within SC GRIMEX SRL we have built a workshop for sanding that consists of 2 identical rooms where the sanding proper, spaces for collecting and removing the steel shots (in our basement), heating installations, compressed air, illuminated, installations of clearing and evacuation of the cleared air, product installation – extracted by carts with pieces subjected to sanding, all in one room, annex to the production hall.

            Dimensions of the hall containing the installations of the sanding workshop are the following:

  • Length: 22.1 m;
  • Width: 9.0 m;
  • Height: 8.0 m with a full surface of ~ 199.0 sqm.

Main technical features:

  • sanding rooms: 2 pcs;
  • Room used surface: 39 sqm (l X w X h = 13.2 X 5.4 X 3.5 m).
